【内容简介】

　　故事发生在一次世界大战中的战壕中，战争的无力感和讽刺意味充斥全片。在后方安然自得地住在美丽城堡里的将军，向在前线卖命杀敌的陆军上尉达克斯下达了一个命令：不惜任何代价占领安特山。这一命令在当时的战况下无异于让战士们去自杀，任务注定是要失败的。将军为了掩盖自己犯下的致命错误，下令逮捕3个无辜的小兵，宣称他们犯下了临阵脱逃和叛变的罪行。达克斯在入伍前是一名律师，他自愿充当3名士兵的辩护人。但不久他就发现，除非能够证明将军犯了过失，否则只有奇迹才能救出这几个危在旦夕的小兵……
